NEW WAY MISSISSIPPI, INC. is a charitable organization that is dedicated to assisting individuals who are returning citizens from incarceration.  We provide Returning citizens with housing, food, and employment training classes.  We encourage program participants to get a job and stay out of prison.

Our Main Objectives

​Restoration

​We assist in the treatment and recovery of individuals who have been separated from their families as a result of different social and economic conditions. Whether you’re trying to recover from substance abuse or suffering from homelessness, you can rely on our volunteers to help you out.

​Prevention

​By preventing negative and self-destructive behaviors, such as the use of illicit drugs and tobacco, we can help you avoid relapsing into past addictions.

Empowerment

Aside from prevention and restoration, we believe that it is also important to empower individuals. Through proper education, training, and provision of resources, we assist families and communities in breaking the cycle of abuse.

​Our Programs

​Youth Enrichment Division

​Our organization provides at-risk prevention counseling, complete with training and reeducation. We also conduct different activities like creative dance and country life immersion.

​Advanced Recovery Division

​Housing acquisition is often a problem for those who want to reenter society, so we provide transitional housing options for formerly incarcerated individuals. Through this program, we also give you access to employment and economic development opportunities.

​Family Services Division

​Family is an important factor when it comes to recovery and growth, so we provide various family reunification opportunities. Our team will help you reach out to your loved ones through marriage and family counseling.

Through discipleship, fellowship, and mentorship, we provide the spiritual and emotional support needed for long-term transformation. Our programs foster accountability, community, and personal growth laying the groundwork for a stable and purposeful future.

​Some Important Facts

• A recent study linking victimization to alcohol problems found that 90% of alcoholic women were physically and/or sexually abused as children (Mississippi Department of Corrections).
• A black male born in 2001 has one in three chances of going to prison within his lifetime; a Hispanic male has one in six chances; and a white male, one in 17 chances; a black female born in 2001 has one in seventeen chances of going to prison in her lifetime; a Hispanic girl has one in 45 chances, and a white female one in 111 chances (Children’s Defense Fund).
• Black children are more than three times as likely as white children to be born into poverty and are four times as likely to live extremely poor (Children’s Defense Fund).
• Rampant Substance Abuse – Drugs, tobacco, and alcohol lead our children down the wrong path. Disconnected youth, lacking a decent education or high school diploma, job training skills, and social support systems or mentors often resort to self-destructive acts. Only about 10% of youth with a substance abuse disorder receive treatment (Children’s Defense Fund).
